Wooden Dream 2 Minute Opening
The final result of the editing and filming, the 2 minute film opening for "Wooden Dream".

Group's Company Logo for Title Sequence
This was the first logo that our group created. We didn't like the looks of the logo and decided to change it, though.
This is the second logo that we designed. We made it more simplistic and we thought that having a black logo upon a white background would stand out better. We decided to remove the stars as we thought it looked similar to the TV show, 'American Idol'. We decided to make the productions part of the logo smaller and the name of the company larger as this is what we wanted to advertise.
Before adding our logo onto the film opening, we decided to make it look more attractive by making it animated. To do this, we used the Adobe Flash software on the Macs to make the logo bounce up and down, as if on a spring. We also added a spring sound effect by using the sound effects on iMovie. Finally, we then added the logo onto the film.
We made the logo bounce as we were making a comedy mockumentary, and we decided to use a "childish" like logo to show to the audience that our company specialises in making comedy films and that the film is also a comedy.
Editing Film Footage Part IV
In this stage of editing involved adding music effects to the clips as well as transactions. We started with transactions between the different scenes. We tried full pre made transactions that are on imovie such as the comic book transaction effect however we decided against this as we felt that it looked amateurish at best and irrelevant to the theme. After experimenting with different transactions we decided upon a simple transaction effect. Next we looked at adding sound effects to the first scene (press conference). We added various camera shutters sound effects to simulate a real press conference in which reporters are taking real photos. We also added a boing sound and an applause to provide a crowd reaction for a realism effect. The next scene we added text to resemble a news report so this featured things like the name of the news corporation and location. We did this for the realism effect to make it appear that it is a real news report. We also tried something similar with the next scene for the same reason.
Creating the title sequence
We put the print screen image on to adobe fireworks software in which we chose one of the fonts available and moved it into location. We added each letter after we saved the image without the new letter. We then added these images to imovie. We added each one as a new part and made each ones duration 0.2 seconds. This created the effect that a typewriter was writing the text onto the block. We added a typewriter sound effect on top of the title sequence and luckily enough it matched the pace in which the text was being written on the block. The final block where all the text has been written was longer. During this sequence we added some music which turned out to be Dolce Vita which was on the imovie sound effects.
Editing Film Footage Part III
One of the scenes that we also edited was the title sequence. We originally took the filming from the Tower Fall scene and we tried to edit the film, so when a Jenga block falls in front of the camera, we paused the video and then placed text onto the block.
At first we attempted to use the title affects that were present on imovie however after trying various different forms of fonts, colours and effects however we felt that none of these were up to standard so we decided to place each letter onto the wooden block individually to create an effect that a typewriter is writing them. Unfortunately imovie dose not allow this so we had to take a print screen of the clip and copy the image onto a seperate software.

Editing Film Footage Part II
In order to make our film look more professional and flow smoothly, we had to edit certain parts of the footage. We also edited certain parts of the footage to include effects, such as sound effects and visual effects.

Editing Film Footage Part I
Once we finished filming our scenes, we had to upload the footage onto an Apple Macintosh computer and use the IMovie software that is already already installed on the system. Once we uploaded all the footage, we had to select the best quality footage from each scene that we filmed. In some cases, we had to choose the best possible footage we had and edit the fottage together with another footage we filmed to make it better. However, this was difficult as each different takes was slightly different so it involved very careful editing. We also had to make sure that each section matched up to eliminate any continuity that may occur. Once all the footage that we wanted was of best quality, the time of all the footgate came to about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Unfortunately, this is too long so we had to cut some sections of footage down in order to come closer to the 2 minute mark, which our brief states.

Summary of Scenes
Summary of Press Conference
This was the first scene we shot, and the shooting went well, we explored a wide range of props in our scene and created our own set. While creating the set we explored a discussion to gather idea's what the set should look like, the summary of the discussion decided that the set should look formal such as other press conferences. Changes we explored in the final shot was changes of the dialogue, to make the scene more realistic compared to the dialogue we entered in the script. We explored two different shot's, an extended mid shot and an extended close up as we couldn't decide which camera angle looked better, in the end we decided to use the mid shot.
Summary of Interview
This was the final shooting of our clip, the scene was shot outside as the weather was good for shooting, therefore why the scene's date of shooting was changed. The shot explored different camera angles such as a pan shot, which may be cut out to overcome the two minute clip. As well we explored an extended tracking shot to highlight the interview structure and questions being asked. The shooting explored a few errors therefore a few outtakes.
Summary of Falling Tower
This was the shortest filming section in our clip, but yet debatably the hardest scene to shoot as we explored many camera angles to get a good view of the tower falling over, but yet exploring a wide range of camera angles and resetting the Jenga tower was time consuming. We explored a wide range of close up's at different angle before gathering a perfect angle which explores the tower falling over directly infront of the camera.
Summary of Outside Conversation
We explored many changes in this scene to adapt to a better final shot. We changed the order of this scene to adapt to the weather, as to do the Interview we needed to record during good weather so we changed the order of the shooting schedule. We also improvised during shooting as a postman was about to disturb the recording, so I improvised and added him to the recording, which ended up being a final scene as it adds a comical value. Finally we edited the dialogue in the script again to add a realistic element into the the scene compared to the original script. The shooting went well but their was many outtakes and the weather kept changing therefore changing the quality of the shooting. In a final summary the shooting went well and the unexpected element of an added actor ended up to be our final scene.

Interview scene out-takes
Final out-takes where our group continue experimenting and making constant mistakes. Unfortunately...
DISCLAIMER: The scene where Joe makes the offensive remark is intentional as Joe's character is dark and "cold-hearted" towards everyone. This remark isn't meant to take offence to anyone and should be taken light-heartedly.
Images from preparing and shooting 'Tower Fall' scene
Various images displaying our group setting up and filming for the 'Jenga Tower Fall' scene.
Aspects of Mise en scene
The set is made up of a table in which the Jenga tower is placed upon and knocked over. There is also another table which makes up the background along with 2 olympic logos and 1 homemade Jenga world championship.
The lighting comes from natural light as its meant to have aspects of realism so we set up the scene in a location where we could get good lighting.

This is the location of where we shot the outside scene. We chose this scene as it belongs to a colleagues house and it was a closer location to the school than my own or Joe Ellis' house.
Press conference scene out-takes
Some out-takes from filming the press conference scene. Includes hilarious hijinks and also different shots and angles we tested when doing this scene.

Advertising our film
If we had to advertise our film we would explore TV advertisements oh channels such as ITV, Sky Sports and ESPN to gather a sporting audience. To gain our other target audience we would also advertise our film on different TV shows such as CBBC, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel to gather the interest of the younger audience. We would also explore our advertisements with-in several toy shops so the fans of Jenga will gain interest with-in our film.
Mise en Scene for scene 1
Aspects of Mis en scene:
Set Design: The set is designed to look similar to a common press conference. We chosen the location due to the white board in which we wanted as this was important to the set design as we used it to write on it. We have written a game of hang man on it as one of the general themes are board games. We have added a hint to the Jenga theme in the hang man in which the word is Jenga. The microphones were added due to the research into press conferences which showed that they used microphones so we added them for realism. We also added chess pieces which relate to the board game theme, images of the official london 2012 olympics as the announcement is for these games. And we added a name panel so the audience knows who is talking without any other mention of his name.
Lighting: We are aiming to portray some aspects of realism in our film opening so we decided upon using natural lighting. In order to get the right quantify of light to make it clear to see what is happening we closed/opened some of the curatins that was on the location. We constantly kept looking through the camera lens until we got the right colour.
Costume: The costume of the announcer was of a formal outfit as our research showed that formal wear was a constant feature in press conferences. We made the charter look a bit geeky with glasses and style of hair. We did this as the stereotypical borad game player is a geek so we decided to make the Jenga player less of a geek and more of an actual athlete and the announcer as the geek.

Hardware and Software needed
Hardware for filming
This is the camera we used to film all of our scenes. We had complications on obtaining a camera for filming, as most people had already booked most of the cameras out. However, we managed to find one with some assistance.
Hardware and Software for editing
For editing the filming we produced, we used the Macintosh operating system and the Macbook Pros to access our filming and used the software 'IMovies' to edit the filming in which we added music, sound effects and even transitions from scene to scene. We also added other small details like cutting down scenes to make the final production close to the 2 minute mark and also add non-diagetic text.

Jenga Movie - Scene 3 Information
This scene features the interviewer going to the house of the new Jenga star. In the script he knocks on the door without answer so looks through the window and sees the athlete playing Jenga then the tower falls down and he is angered.
Changes to Script
One of the required props (Jenga tower) was missing we decided to improvise the script only using it as a guide. This gives a more natal and realistic feel to the film. While filming we en-counted the local postman who we improvised into the film for comic affect. Instead of looking through the window we decided to have the athlete opening the door and Denny that he is the new star until money is offered before doing a Usane Bolt pose to reference this star.
Location
The chosen and decided location for filming was at my house as this was the most suitable out of the 3 different houses.
Props
Microphone with olympic logo attached.

Changes to shooting schedule
We have changed our shooting schedule because of the whether conditions which would of effected our lighting. We originally was scheduled to film the Jenga tower scene but due to good whether conditions that would mean good lighting we decided to film the scene which is set outside (Storyboard 3)
Character Clothing for Film
This is the outfit that I used for my character for filming. It consists of just a plain purple shirt and a pair of dark blue tracksuit bottoms.
This is what Joe's character looks like on film. Joe's outfit consists of some formal dark coloured pair of trousers and a retro-esque jacket that resembles how news reporters look like.
Jenga Olympics filming photos
These images are the images we took of where we are filming and what was to be expected. The images were taken before and after we did the inital filming of the last scene that we were shooting, which took place outside.

Jenga Movie - Scene 1 Information
This is the first scene to be shot. It is of the announcement that thumb wars and Jenga is now an official olympic event.
Changes to script

Location
Our initial location was a class room in the school but decided upon the school library as this would be more suitable for the setting and the lighting.
Props required for scene
A table, Microphones, Name card, Olympic london 2012 logos.

Max Power
(To camera) I am Max Power and we are today
going to try and talk to the hottest
Athlete for an interview about his life
The reporter knock upon the door and waits. A beat.
Max Power
(To camera) It appears he may be busy
…Lets have a little peak through his

The reporter moves around to window and looks through.
Max Power
Look guys, his there!

Max Power
Now that Jenga is an official Olympic event
are you excited that you will be
part of the Olympic's in your home country?
Sebastian
To represent my country is an honour!
I didn't believe this day will ever come,
such a neglected sport, to run as fast
as Usain Bolt, is that a skill? Really?
To hold steady nerves and push a block from a
tower takes skill
Max
As an official athlete now you must have a
training schedule? What I want to know is what
do you do in training?
Sebastian
Hour finger exercises (moves fingers)
Half hour meditation to hold nerves to
become a steady tiger and be one with wisdom
roaaaaaaar
Max
So keeping your nerves is really that important?
Don't you ever practice block removing techniques
Sebastian
Be one with the block, be one with the tower
Max
You are considered to be Britian's greatest
Jenga player, winning almost every competition t
hat the Chinese have not entered. Do you believe
you can beat them?
Sebastian
To be honest no, can I say that? oh, re take
Yes, Yes I can, they may have fast hands and
steady nerves, but I am British!
Max
So you will probably fail at the last hurdle
like most brits?
Sebastian
You my friend are not British, you my friend are a loser!
Max
Ok moving on, is Jenga your life?
Sebastian
Jenga is more than my life its my... erm... life.
Since I was a little kid, I was in an
advertisement you know take one
from the bottom and put it on top
INSERT TV advertisement
Max
In the international Jenga world
championships you were humiliated in the final
by Jun Ji Sang. Is that still on your mind?
Flashback into a previous clip of Sebastian losing a game of Jenga in the 'international Jenga world championships' in a stadium with crowds cheering. Jenga tower falls in slow motion with close ups on the Jenga blocks and contestants. Scene transitions over to credits which appear on the Jenga blocks.
Sebastian V.O
It will always be on my mind, I will take that to
the grave, noooo. Not again, this time it is a
Wooden Dream.
